PRINCIPAL: |
| Kristian J Wood, BSc (Hons) Ost. 2000 |
Having studied for four years at the British School of Osteopathy, Kristian graduated in 2000 and immediately set up a clinic in Shepherd’s Bush. As the principal practitioner at KJW Osteopathy, he decided to relocate the clinic in 2007, moving to the Notting Hill area of West London. |
Kristian’s decision to study Osteopathy came after he suffered an injury playing for Queens Park Rangers Football Club. During his own rehabilitation, he benefited greatly from osteopathic treatments and this inspired him to study Osteopathy, mainly to help fellow sportsmen. |
“I come from a sporting background and had a career as a footballer until a back injury forced me into early retirement. Initially my goal was centered around treating professional footballers. Although I now treat a number of professional athletes, my training also brought to light the wide variety of people and the many types of conditions that Osteopathy can help.” |
Kristian treats a diverse group of patients, including sports figures, the elderly suffering from chronic pain and arthritis, pregnant women, children with asthma, and people of all ages suffering from everyday aches and pains. Over the years, he has become increasingly interested in the ‘long-term sufferer’ and the reasons why some acute problems occur when they do. |
“Generally, osteopathic treatment aims to improve the body’s mechanics and function, thereby alleviating aches and pains and improving a patient’s overall health and wellbeing. However, patients with past or ongoing issues relating to emotional, employment, social, spiritual or familial aspects of their life often find that physical problems will manifest and recur as a result. I now factor this notion into my osteopathic treatment sessions when necessary.” |

ASSOCIATE: |
| Soraya Bish, BSc (Hons) Ost. 2000 |
After she graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 2000, Soraya moved from London to the greater Cambridge area. She spent the next seven years in East Anglia, working in multi-disciplinary clinics across the region and in Cambridge itself. During this time, she also completed post-graduate studies in Cranial Osteopathy. |
Having joined KJW Osteopathy in 2007, Soraya divides her week between treating patients in London and East Anglia. |
As a practitioner, Soraya has treated a wide variety of conditions in a diverse group of patients, including babies and young children, the elderly, and athletes with sports injuries, such as rugby players. |
Today a large number of Soraya’s patients are babies and children. Using Cranial Osteopathy techniques, she specialises in the treatment of common ailments such as colic, disturbed sleep, recurrent ear infections and sinus and adenoidal problems. |
“I get a great deal of satisfaction from treating the young as it not only benefits their future health and development but, as the baby’s health improves, so does the family’s quality of life.” |
